Eduardo Saidi Tingatinga was born in 1932 in a village in southern Tanzania on the border of Mozambique.

Eduardo Saidi Tingatinga was a self taught painter, with only 4 years of primary school education. He was just starting to receive recognition for his square board-paintings, when his life was cut short in 1972, he was mistaken for a fleeing thief and fatally shot by the police. Before he died he started to attracted young followers wanting to imitate his style. Today Tingatinga thrives.

This original painting is one of twenty in a collection that was owned by Jaffary Aussi, also very well known for painting Tingatinga Art and was one of Eduardo Saidi Tingatinga students.
Sadly Jaffary has passed away and his collection of Eduardo Saidi Tingatinga paintings are for sale.
There are only five left in this collection the other 15 have been sold in Japan.
